Six The Musical reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII — Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr — as a pop-concert-style girl group, each competing to tell her own story before the show ultimately sets the competition aside to let every queen reclaim her history. Created by then-Cambridge University students Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the production is backed live on stage by an all-female band nicknamed "The Ladies in Waiting" and pairs witty, contemporary lyrics with a high-octane pop score.

The West End production has played the Vaudeville Theatre, its "forever home," since September 2021, following earlier runs at the Arts Theatre and the Lyric Theatre.

Interesting Facts About Six The Musical

Six premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2017, performed by a Cambridge University student cast, before transferring to London's Arts Theatre in December 2017.

Co-creator Lucy Moss developed the show while studying feminist history at Cambridge University alongside co-writer Toby Marlow.

The West End production moved to the Vaudeville Theatre in September 2021, after earlier runs at the Arts Theatre and the Lyric Theatre.

Each queen's musical persona draws on a modern pop artist: Catherine of Aragon channels Beyoncé, Jane Seymour channels Adele, and Catherine Parr channels Alicia Keys, among others.

The Vaudeville Theatre is a compact, three-tiered Victorian building with no public lift, so reaching the Dress Circle and Upper Circle means climbing stairs: 22 steps up to the Dress Circle and 54 to the Upper Circle from the foyer. Bars are located on the Dress Circle and Grand Circle levels, and a small cloakroom is available for a fee for items too large to bring into the auditorium.

Step-free access runs from the street into the foyer, and wheelchair users reach the Stalls via a Domino Zonzini platform stair-lift (maximum load 400kg); arriving 45 minutes before the performance is recommended, and some wheelchair users may need to transfer to a manual chair to use it.
