Set against the sun-soaked backdrop of a Greek island, Mamma Mia! follows Sophie Sheridan, a young bride-to-be who finds her mother Donna's old diaries and identifies three men from Donna's past — Sam, Bill and Harry — who could each be her father. Without telling Donna, Sophie invites all three to her wedding, hoping to learn the truth before she walks down the aisle, setting off a weekend of comic complications, old memories and reconciliation.

The show is written by Catherine Johnson, with music and lyrics by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Producer Judy Craymer spent over a decade persuading the pair to let their songs be woven into a stage musical.

Interesting Facts About Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! is officially the third longest-running musical in the history of London's West End.

The emotional ballad "The Winner Takes It All" was the original song that sparked the idea for the entire musical.

Phyllida Lloyd directed both the original West End stage production and the 2008 and 2018 film adaptations.

The musical has now been staged in more than 50 productions across 16 languages, seen by over 70 million people worldwide.

The wardrobe department uses over 400 metres of Lycra to make the flashy Super Trouper costumes worn during the finale.
